The Algarve, one of Portugal’ best known tourist attractions and for obvious reason. It’s the home of beach luxury on a budget. The destination boasts a gorgeous coast line, with endless sandy beaches, crystal blue oceans and plenty of cliff faces for some dive bombing action without the “no running by the pool” signs. Food fresh from the ocean, typical airy European villas and hot weather through out the year… Sounds good right? But what can you do out there? Well here’s our list of what we think is the best things to do and see in the Algarve!
1. Quad Bike Tour
One of the best ways to see Algarve is by Quad Bike. Up and down the region there are Quad Bike Tour operators, in groups of up to 6 you can go out on your own quad, led by a professional tour operator and see some of the Algarve’s best destinations through the eyes of the locals!
Safety first! Of course it differs from tour operators but all good tour operators will provide you with health and safety training as well as protective clothing to ensure you’re safe whilst taking your tour. Full training on how to use the bikes is also provided.
Along with the quad bikes you can also take wildlife safari’s, buggy tours, 4×4 tours and more. It really is the perfect place to feel the sea breeze rush through your air and soak in the sights!
Argh mateys!… Okay so Portugal isn’t exactly known for it’s pirates but another one of the best ways to see the region. Algarve is a destination that lives off of the sea, from food, industry, tourism and more; so we feel it’s only right that you immerse yourself in the regions sea culture.
There is many different types of boat tours you can take. If you’ve brought your little ones with you then a good tour to take would be a Dolphin Watch. Cruising down the coast at a safe distance (to not upset their habitat) you can sit back, relax and catch a glimpse of one of the Algarve’s best residence… Dolphins! Or if that’s not your thing there’s always the pirate galleon that you can take a trip on.
There’s also plenty to do if you’ve come along with your friends and you’re looking for something a little more action packed. Like Jet Skiing and heavy powered speed boats that perform fun stunts on the water, picture yourself as James Bond but in Topman swimming trunks, there’s plenty to do for those who want adventure.
3. Visit An Aqua
Who doesn’t love an Aqua Park? At Atlas we love them! The perfect for everyone, whether your 6 or 66, you’re never too young or too old to have fun at an Aqua Park. Algarve has many Aqua parks and one of the best is The Aquashow Park. The Park (which is also a hotel) has over 7 different slides and pools to keep you entertained. The slides range from less adventurous for smaller children to bigger slides to terrify the toughest of men.
There you have it, our list of the best things to do and see in the Algarve. But of course we haven’t mentioned the top thing to do! Which we believe is just a walk… Take a walk and see what you discover, the region has an almost countless number of amazing beaches, marinas, board walks, shops and amazing local restaurants; the best way to experience them is to take a walk and keep an open mind.
